REVIEW: Lil B’s Urban Eatery …NOW OPEN!!!

Lil B’s

2611 El Cajon Blvd
(between Hamilton St & Oregon St)
San Diego, CA 92104
University Heights/ North Park

Now open to mixed reviews is

Lil B’s.

This is the “new Brians”  formerly on Washington.

I would first  say do not go there expecting  the “old Brians”.

The look is different.

The food, quality and portion sizes are different.

The Prices are different.

Maybe they need to adjust to their new surroundings,

but they need tweaking.

The Decor?

A hodge podge of all different types of wall textures and ceiling finishes…

everywhere, all different.

Lighting fixtures that don’t match either.

Sadly, there are also unfinished decorating issues,

it makes you wonder if they ran out of the product or didn’t buy enough.

Unfinished painting in corners or on the sides of walls and booths

that just needed a little more attention but were never completed.

It seems like they rushed to open.

Sadly this reflects not only in the poorly remodeled decor but in the food.

The quality is not the same.

A Grilled Cheese Sandwich should be grilled long enough so that when you pick up the sandwich the bread doesn’t fall over. Likewise the bread on a Club Sandwich…both were not.

There’s nothing worse than a half toasted piece of bread that is too weak to pick up and hold as a sandwich.

This comes from rushing the bread and not letting it toast or grill long enough.

We asked about the Veggie Burger and were told

They forgot to put that on the menu, but we have it.

They also forgot to list the Biscuits and Gravy and a couple of other things

You know your menu is incomplete but you still put it out.

Didn’t anybody proof read it?

It’s these little things that add up.

If these things that we can see are substandard,

what about what the things we can’t see…?

The reviews have been mixed. From scathing to raving.

I’m somewhere in the middle.

It seems like

“Time is of the Essence, NOT Quality”

is their motto.

The old Brians was not like this,

 their motto was

“Let’s NOT do it if we can’t do it right”

or so it seemed.

We left unimpressed but wanting to like it.

We want to support it, so, we will try it again, in a couple weeks.

Why don’t you go and let me know how YOU like it…
