REVIEW: Lips Restaurant…Sunday Gospel Brunch…

3036 El Cajon Blvd (between 30th St & Ohio St) San Diego, CA 92104

When we were invited to go with some friends to the
Sunday Morning GOSPEL BRUNCH at LIPS

we didn’t know quite what to expect.

We are not into “drag shows” just for the sake of seeing men dress up and prance around

as women in sequins grabbing dollar bills out of people’s hands.  But this had a more to offer. An actual show without impersonators trying to be Cher, Bette Midler or any other female icon.

So we showed up at 11am and were checked in and were invited to enjoy a Mimosa, Bloody Mary or glass of Champagne while we we waited for our table assignments in the newly redecorated showroom…

The “girls” come and take the food orders and the drinks are continuousy refilled… generously and to the top, for the THREE hours you are there….

The drinks are included in the Brunch cost of $17.95 , as many of  them as you want…

The food choices included Eggs Benedict, Steak and Eggs, Huervos Rancheros, Chicken Pesto Club

(which I had and was delicious, I was really surprised!)

 and many more options…

After a really great meal and a couple Bloody Marys, Sister Nun of the Above takes the stage///oh, excuxse me, i mean pulpit, and let the service begin…

Members of the church take the stage singing Gospel…
dancing Gospel,
 clapping Gospel,
some members feeling the spirit move them to a new space…maybe it was the spirits
and the new space was outer space…
Now you don’t need to be moved quite as much as this other “church member” unless you want to be
…However, remember this is NOT Las Vegas, what happens there most definitely does NOT stay there…
