REVIEW: Golden Chopsticks Restaurant

                          GOLDEN CHOPSTCKS RESTAURANT
1430 E Plaza Blvd
 National City, CA 91950
(619) 336-1888

Yes it is a bit of a drive,

No it’s not in Clairemont Mesa, the “Asian disrtict”

but this hole in the wall is a great find….

Nestled away in “Little Manila” or otherwise known as National City,

is this fantastic Chinese Restaurant,

Golden Chopsticks.

Rating 4 stars or higher on Yelp, Urbanspoon, San Diego Reader, Trip Advisor and more, this unpretentious,”old style” Chinese restaurant has outrageously good food. There is no “fusion” anything.  Nothing fancy here. Paper napkins, servers that serve, very well at that. Although smiles and chit chat are extra, but who cares??? You’re here to eat. Be it savory, sweet  or BBQed .

Fried, sauteed, or steamed…. they prepare the food quickly, in a clean exhibition kitchen.

Prices? Very reasonable, actually a great deal, based on the portions. Whatever you’re craving: Seafood, Noodles, Soups they have an amazing selection to choose from.

Slices of BBQ Pork are slices, not bits and pieces.

The Noodles are piled high with veggies and seafood.

Salt and Pepper chicken, shrimp,
or calamari… amazing!

When you go, there may be a wait, don’t worry. As I have said, people are there to eat.

The service is fast.
Tables come and go quite quickly.

They also do catering and take-out

and from the looks of the cashier they do as much take-out service as dine-in.

Again, not fancy, but fast, delicious and great prices.

Interestingly, around them is a Hawaiian BBQ place, a Goldilocks (Filipino food) a Thai restaurant and a Pho cafe but guess which is the busiest…..
