Just wanted to share this. Even if you don’t go, it is impressive from an environmentally correct viewpoint

Most residents of San Diego County have either heard of or visited Santee Lakes. Located in the heart of  the beautiful City of Santee.  Santee Lakes is great not only for a day trip but for camping, fishing and walking the dog! Since 1961, Santee Lakes has been a part of the community providing many fun activities for the surrounding areas. Since then, Santee Lakes has been not only a water treatment facility but a daycation as well as vacation destination!  Less than an 45 minutes away……….         The Recreational Park consists of Seven Lakes. Some for fishing, or camping or specific wild life sightings. There are also wedding facilities and small to large pavillions for private parties…

The Recreational Park isn’t just a great place for fun they also are taking care of the environment and actually are serving as a role model for many other cities. You see, they specializes in “green” systems. They use 14,000 solar panels, covering over 4 acres, that produce over 1 million kilowatt hours annually.

Another  great innovation is that the water for the lakes is all recycled  wastewater.              OK,   now back to the fun stuff . Their lastest addition is the adding of cabins in the camping area

Now the regular and waterfront cabins have always been there.

What they added for this year are……………..

                                                              FLOATING CABINS ………………

Beautiful inside and out and a paddleboat is included with the rental

*RENTAL CABINS Our rental cabins provide a fun getaway for the entire family!   We have ten cabins to choose from. Seven are right on the water’s edge on the northern shore of Lake 7 and three are actually floating on the lake.  All units have full utilities including AC & heat, TV, and WiFi.  They come furnished and include a restroom with shower, kitchenette, master bedroom, living room, porch and barbeque. Cabins are set to be open April 1st, 2011

Every cabin has a porch with a view of the lake. Inside, the cabins have heating and air conditioning, flat screen TVs with cable and wireless Internet. Linens or food are not provided, but just about everything else is there.

Reservations are now being accepted for the ten waterfront cabins at Santee Lakes—

Give them a call….

Approved and hopefully soon to come………..

The long-debated plan calls for a cable park and restaurant to be built on the preserve’s southernmost lake. The Santee Lakes cable park will feature a six-tower cable system as well as a restaurant, snack bar and pro shop.

The Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve is managed by the Padre Dam Municipal Water District and provides camping, fishing and other recreation pursuits to Southern California residents.
