Going to R GANG EATERY last night was completely by chance. We were going to try the Tractor Room but realized nobody had made a reservation so we looked two doors down and R Gang looked a little more casual and fun so we went in. We were greeted with a great smile and really “welcomed”. You go up a few steps and then enter the indoor dining area and the bar. If you prefer outdoor seating you go through the bar and there is terraced seating outdoors, there is a canopy above the outdoor area which is nice in the event of inclement weather. We sat right outside the bar.

Terrance was our server for the evening as well as the bartender. He was full of suggestions, may I say, take them. From the Acai beer to the wine and Not-so-short ribs, his suggestions were spot on! We all shared a Mac and cheese with sausage as an appetizer…rich and savory. I took Terrance’s advice and had the Ribs. Falling off the bone tender with carrots that were glazed and jazzed up with a little cinnamon, nice touch. Flame steak was accompanied with a blue cheese potato pancake, excellent as well. A little disappointed with the Shrimp and Grits. It was more Grits with Shrimp. The shrimp were small and scarce, Good flavor however. All in all great experience, including the very reasonable prices.

We’ve found out the “R” in R Gang Eatery would stand for Rich Sweeney. Rich is the chef as well as a former contestant on “TOP CHEF”. We all are planning to go back….soon.
A reply from Chef Rich to the above review:
Glad to hear that you had a good time and an enjoyable meal! I will be sure Terence knows that you appreciated his suggestions! Also, I have reviewed all of the portion sized for the dishes (including the massive amounts of grits some of the cooks serve), so that your next visit can be more enjoyable overall!

Thank you for giving us a shot – we look forward to serving you here again soon!
